Hi.
Im looking for some opinion on what to do on my stringing machine.
I have a Gamma Progression ST II with Wise 2086 (series 14) tensioner and i have changed the side supports with the michael chudek side support as well as the gamma load spreader for the 12 and 6 oclock position. My machine is using 5 teeth fixed clamps with the base clamps (Not automatic base clamps), approx 4 years old machine.
Recently i have been struggling to string 68 holes badminton rackets, due to the string size the 5 teeth fixed clamps are pushing on the strings at certain spots. I am now thinking of doing a bit of upgrade on my machine to help cater for these new yonex 68 hole rackets.
More information can be found on this thread: Stringing Clamps for 68 hole rackets | BadmintonCentral
So i have an option of upgrading the gamma progression st II with 2 gamma MMSC13 fixed clamps – $265aud each. Gamma automatic base clamps $675aud each.
Crazily expensive as the Gamma Progression ST II cost $1400aud at the time of purchase and thes 2 fixed clamps and automatic base clamps will cost close to $1900aud.
Yes, i could just get the fixed clamps and be done with it, but i will be throwing more money into a machine that is unlikley to be more upgradable now without paying a fortune. Would really like some automatic base clamps.
Is it worth upgrading these components or purchase a new stringing machine with the automatic base clamps? Hopefully find 4 teeth fixed clamps somewhere, keeping in mind that a new machine may run into the same issue with the 68 hole rackets.
Support here in Australia for these gamma machines are pretty hard to get and parts seems very expensive.
Alternatively we have this store which has better support and parts more readily available.

looking at the Spinfire Furnace if i do upgrade!
I dont string too many rackets, so dont want to be spending a huge amount either. maybe average 20 rackets a month. I dont mind paying for a new stringing machine as prices has gone up quite a lot since i have purchased the gamma stringing machine and i can likely still sell it for only a slight loss.
Thanks for your help and let me know what you think.
