Big 100 loading for Virat Kohli in Asia Cup 2022 as he shows confidence despite slump form: Virat Kohli has been a batting maestro for the longest time in his career and is known to score runs more often than not. However, batting hasn’t been kind to Virat in the last two years or so. The magical Indian batter has found it quite arduous to score runs at will.
Kohli has recently completed 1000 days without registering a ton against his name. His last century came back in late 2019 against Bangladesh, but since then it has been a long wait for his 71st century.
However, he would be hoping to witness some promising signs as he walks out to bat against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 on 28th August.
While speaking on the Star Sports show, Kohli talked about his dry run and how he actually sees it. Notably, Kohli saw a downfall in his career during the 2014 England tour, where he failed to score runs and fell cheaply in a repeating pattern. Talking about the same Kohli said –
“What happened in England was a pattern, so something that I could work on and something that I had to kind of overcome. Right now, as you rightly mentioned, there is nothing that you can point out saying that the problem is happening here,” said Virat Kohli.
“So, that for me, is actually an easier thing to process because I know that I’m batting well and at times, when I start feeling that rhythm back, then I know that I’m batting well. So, that for me is not an issue, which wasn’t the case in England; I didn’t feel like I was batting well at all. So, I had to work hard on one thing that could be exposed again and again which I overcame; right now this is not the case,” he added.

The former Indian skipper further said that he is not afraid of this phase of his career, rather, he wants to learn the core values of being an athlete from this phase.
“..As long as I’m ticking those boxes, I know there are ups and downs, and when I come out of this phase, I know how consistent I can be. My experiences are sacred to me. Whatever I have experienced in this phase or in the past as well, one thing that I can vouch for is that I have never valued myself more as a person,” he said.
There have been times when Virat Kohli is insanely criticised for his dull form. Several experts of the game and viewers have lambasted him for the same. However, Kohli has managed to cut himself out of the excessive outside noise and focused more on his batting.
The upcoming Asia Cup 2022 is going to be massive for Kohli and his further ambitions. More importantly, India will be hugely benefitted if Kohli returns to his good touch and score runs in the tournament.
